3 Ways to Build Self Confidence by Connecting with Your Womb

Updated: Mar 17, 2023

It’s safe to say that most of us have likely experienced feelings of disharmony and/or disconnect within our bodies. For a myriad of reasons we can sometimes feel like we are at odds with the body we reside in. Wanting it to be smaller, bigger, fitter, tighter, softer, the list comes on and on. Yet, if we really bring the

deep desires for our body to the surface they often revolve around feeling ‘good enough’ and accepted.

In an effort to get these desires met, we often externalize our need for validation to society in the form of our friends, family, co-workers, and even strangers. I have been in this position myself so many times and what I can tell you is that everything changes once you learn to meaningfully connect with and appreciate your body and for me, that began with my womb.

Connecting with the power of the womb creates an internal sense of assuredness and self knowing that is unmoved by external influence. A strong sense of grounding and self awareness grows the more we learn to consistently connect to our wombs. Creating an environment where self confidence can take root from a stable internal foundation is so important for women.

Here are three ways to build confidence by connecting with your womb:

Learn Cycle Awareness

Knowledge is power! It’s vitally important to learn about the four stages of the menstrual cycle. I recently did a more in depth explanation of each phase here. Learning to track your cycle and knowing exactly where you are is crucial in being able to support your body during each phase.

My preferred tracking methods are Basal Body Temperature (BBT) charting, monitoring cervical fluid, and tuning into my feelings throughout my cycle. These methods are part of the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM), which is a fantastic way to establish your own body literacy.

Once we understand and work with our body’s natural rhythm, we very quickly come to learn that our bodies are perfectly designed just the way they are. It’s also amazing to tune into how our bodies fluctuate in order to support our changing hormonal needs. Learning cycle awareness will definitely allow you to appreciate your body and all the amazing ways it functions.

Practice Womb Awareness

In today’s society our days are often jam packed from beginning to end. Most of our time is spent in our heads, thinking about to-do lists and what’s happening next. Practicing womb awareness throughout the day is a fantastic way to get out of our heads and into our bodies. The technique is simple: during your day bring your awareness to your womb, perhaps placing your hands over your womb space. Then take a few deep breaths to sense how this lovely part of your body is feeling. This can be incredibly grounding and it’s a simple easy way to connect with the powerful energy that resides in the womb.

Womb meditation

Womb meditation is a powerful way to connect deeply with the innate wisdom that exists within the womb space. Taking time out of our busy day to connect with our creative force allows us to truly understand how capable we are. Womb meditation is also great for allowing us to be present with ourselves so that we can tune into the quiet intuition of the womb.

A quick and simple womb meditation: Create a safe and comfortable space to lay down. Place your hands over your womb area or just bring your attention to this space in your mind's eye. Taking deep, slow breaths that allow your lower belly to rise and fall, start to allow your entire lower pelvic region to relax. Now, imagine that your womb is being cleansed by a gentle flow of pristine water that then flows out of you and is absorbed by the Earth.

Connecting with the womb brings awareness to the power, strength, and vital energy that exists within all of us. Once we become attuned with our ability to learn and accept our body's natural rhythm, and take time to honor our bodies for all that they are capable of, our attitudes towards ourselves usually start to naturally shift. We become more internally stable, confident, and less affected by outside forces. We turn inwards and come home to ourselves.
